How to import pre-processing files into Chrono:FEM?And how to output post-processing files such as.d3plot files from Chrono:FEM?

Hello all,

I intend to use Chrono for finite element analysis of complex models, but have never found the pre-processing input file and how to output the post-processing file. Or is there another way to solve it?

Hi,

To my knowledge, Chrono is designed as a multibody system dynamics simulation software. It indeed supports static, dynamic and modal analyses for finite element models, but not as dedicated to FEA as ANSYS, ABAQUS, also we do not have an interface to pre- / post-processing tools, such as Hypermesh.

In the newly developed ChModalAssembly module, I am still hesitant whether we should develop an interface to input finite element mesh from other tools for those complex geometries, and then do modal reduction, alternatively, whether we should support importing modal reduced models from FEA packages, like in ADAMS or Simpack. The bottleneck is always human resource and funding.
