I'm a programmer who would like to help! Seems like the original developer is no longer a part of this?

Sorry for the rampant posting, I just recently found out about Project 6014 after playing UQM for the past few weeks and was disappointed that development had halted.

I have many skills that can be useful for reviving the project if others are still available for development. In a day or so I can provide a UQM addon that proves my capability if necessary.

Well I started this whole thing. But most of the heavy lifting was done by much cleverer people

So it's you who runs this then, my mistake. Are the heavy programmers still active or is the whole thing stagnant right now?

I am the guy who took over on the story side after cedric and created a LOT of new material, including a full fledge story with several acts, time travel and some new surprises like a mini moon acting as the new trojan horse ship.  There is also a flowchart for the timeline. But we never managed to get a programmer dedicated to making it happen so eventually that's where it stooped. We also had a genius graphic artist, the one who created the HQ version of UQM, but he also moved to other projects, since we didn't have a programmer....

Here is the latest repository for the story material:

I will be looking through that material quite a bit, thanks for that Nico. As I may have stated before, I loved UQM too much and it deserves a proper sequel. I've programmed for years now, no degree yet but very soon I'll have one in CS. I'll have to look into the existing demo stuff to learn UQM content creation, but if I could get my foot in the door then I'm all in for putting my free time into this project long term.

So the next problem is graphic art. It's insane how you guys managed to get the HQ artist for UQM to work on this, the existing designs fit perfectly. So without him, would there be someone that can mimic his design well enough to take over, or would you have to scrap the whole art-section and start over?

You might also want to look at some resources and similar discussion we already had on reddit

As for the graphic artist, it was Damon Czanik (I have his email if needed), I am pretty sure he is still around, I think he might even have been hired by stardock or something.
I don't know if he'd still have time for this today but it's worth a try.

The link I gave you on google code used to be in a nicely formatted wiki with everything but google decided to stop offering google code wikis and what remains is only a wiki backup, hence the messed up order of things.
You should start reading it at the larger story blocks and study the flowchart here:  https://www.docdroid.net/XEId9Ih/project-6014-flowchart.pdf

Let me know how it goes with your code investigation! I'd be willing to get involved on the story side again if we can find the proper resources for the coding and graphics.

Awesome, thanks for taking the time to fill me in. I'll post again once I have a better idea of what I'll be doing.

I'm guessing this project has stalled / died, given the lack of any news for the past few years?

Pretty much, yeah. I wouldn't expect anything more to come out of it.

Hi, another long-time lurker/fan here.  If anyone from the team is reading this, thank you so much for that Demo.  I especially loved talking to the Vux and how the dilemma between potentially convincing them to help the Alliance and the need for them to move beyond their racism and hatred was handled.

I wonder if any remaining story/writing staff could just release a novelization or something?  Like a web series?  Sure, it'll basically be fanfiction, or if we're luckier a visual novel of sorts.  I get that such projects aren't easy and I'm familiar with another team on a similar Touhou fan project that have completely stalled in their efforts to make a visual novel.  I know it's not easy.

But there seems to be plenty of material here.  And it's not exactly easy to find anymore without wandering into this google group.  It would be a shame to lose everything if google chooses to shut down its code archive or whatever.  The project itself may be dead, and Toys for Bob are making their new game, but compiling the ideas of 6014 and having that as some sort of story for people to look over might be nice.  Who knows?  We might still be early enough for "Ghost of the Precursors" or whatever the sequel is called (sadly I'm not a kickstarter backer, I bet people here could confirm actual info about the official sequel) for 6014's lore to maybe influence the official work in some way.  Lots of cool ideas here, we really shouldn't lose them.

I'm just a fan typing this junk but this work was really inspiring.  Thanks for everything.

Hello! I doubt the people are dead, but the project surely is.  I know that at least one of the people were picked up by the ghosts of the precursors project. I wouldn't even know how to dig up the old code, assets and other resources. There was a story structure all mapped out, at a high level, but I doubt it is still in existence - in the cloud or elsewhere.

In terms of actual fleshed out dialogue, what you see in the demo is what there is. (unless other writers know different!)

It would have been great to finish p6014, but in the end it was too resource intensive for the volunteers, and especially me as project lead. I am glad that some people got some joy out of the small bit we did finish.

And it did lead to Damon's HD version, which is excellent.

Ghosts of the precursors is due out this year, so that is the thing people should get excited about :)
