Location: Remote then Hybrid before converting to Full time Employee – (Onsite Tuesday – Thursday)
Duration: 3 months contract to hire
Work Status: Citizen, Green Card, TN visa or GC – EAD ( If you send and GC -EAD and they are OPT you will be banned for life)
Interview Process: 2 (30 – 45 minute) interviews

Person would be very specialized for this team. Understanding their data and canteen technology - serving as the internal data liaison Extract, transform and load data as required for whomever within team needs FoodBuy internally, Canteen, e15 groups, etc.
Job Description:
Canteen is searching for an experienced Data Engineer to join our Canteen BI & Data Analytics team. The Data Engineer will work at our Charlotte, NC Corporate Headquarters where they will utilize skills to enable optimal integration across data sources to ensure easy access to data, which will support data driven results essential for managing the business. The Data Engineer will effectively communicate and actively engage stakeholders and fellow team members to ensure a quality product. The Data Engineer will thrive in an environment that provides opportunity to expand their expertise in cloud tools and technology.
Responsibilities:
- Manipulating, processing, and extracting data from structured, unstructured and/or disconnected datasets to support Project based analysis, forecasting and self-service solutions
- Design and build data models/flows/schemas based on integration requirements and data sources
- Identify opportunities to improve and implement integration processes: optimization, automation, redesign for scalability, etc.
- Create and maintain project documentation: integration flows, process flows/dependencies, data dictionary/models, technical support guides, project requirements and plans
- Collaborate and support Team projects as needed to ensure Team success
- Ensure project tasks are completed within defined timelines, communicate concerns, delays or roadblocks, provide weekly project status updates
Qualifications:
- BS degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems or Business Analytics
- 2+ years’ experience in a Data Engineering role; knowledge and experience with ETL projects including sourcing from various data structures such as JSON and XML
- 2+ years’ experience with SQL, including working knowledge and proficiency with authoring complex MS SQL queries and stored procedures
- Experience managing the limitations and challenges of working with terabytes of data
- Prefer experience with Snowflake and AWS cloud services: Redshift, Athena, Glue, S3, EC2, RDS, etc.
- Prefer experience with data modeling for visualization tools (e.g. Power BI and Tableau)
- Prefer experience with managing data for a Business Intelligence/Data Analytics Team environment, leveraging R Scripting, Python, etc.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to effectively communicate with the business, customer and technical audiences
- Self-starter, organized and detail oriented with an ability to manage priorities, track and complete deliverables in a timely manner
DESIRED
- R language - scripting, etc.
- Would help candidate to be able to broaden career to move into Data science if that chose AWS Cloud Services experience - Redshift, Athena
- Experience in the retail industry preferred
