Job Description:

 

The Opportunity

The Program Manager / Release Train Engineer does anything possible to help the team-of-teams perform at their highest level. This involves removing any impediments to progress, facilitating meetings and working with the product managers to ensure product is ready for the next quarter. The successful candidate will have extensive experience guiding teams and organizations on how to use Scaled Agile practices and values to increase customer satisfaction. This position will report to a Director – Agile Delivery.

 

The Work Itself

• This role is responsible for optimizing the flow of epics/features and the value delivered by a program, and is focused on serving the needs of the train to drive performance and growth
• Work with the Architect and Product Manager in refining the epics to be considered in the next quarterly planning cycle to meet the Epic Definition of Ready
• Key responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating the program ceremonies, managing dependencies across teams in the program, and providing visibility into the health of epic/feature delivery and the overall program increment
• Understand and communicate the capacity of the teams within the program, and ensure commitments and capacity are balanced and sustainable.
• Facilitates communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers during epic definition and delivery, ensures impediments to epic/feature delivery are resolved quickly and protects the teams from outside disruptions to delivery
• Evangelize the Agile mindset and principles, empowering individual teams to become self-managing and fulfill their cross-functional potential
• Manages change to the ART’s quarterly plan and the impacts of those changes
• In collaboration with the Product Manager, ensure the program has a healthy product/program backlog
• Promote/facilitate communication and collaboration within the ART to support value delivery and PI commitment
• Responsible for providing status updates and reporting pertaining to ART plans/delivery/timelines/impediments to stakeholders and leadership
• Measure ART delivery, maturity, and performance and review the metrics with the ART to identify improvement opportunities
• Contributes to the Agile Community with best practices and proved techniques
• Manage the delivery of initiatives and/or solution releases including deliverables, cost, schedule, quality, and status reporting.

 

The Skills You Bring

·     8+ years of information technology experience

·     Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant field of study

·     Minimum of 3-5 years of ScrumMaster experience

·     Certified ScrumMaster (CSM or related certification strongly preferred)

·     SAFe RTE certification strongly preferred

·     Thorough understanding and experience working with both agile and waterfall methodologies on large scale, technically complex projects.

·     Ability to deal with multiple projects.

·     Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

·     Must be self-motivated as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.

·     Data driven analysis skills for measuring and managing delivery.

·     Controls a program level view and status and uses the information in Jira and PowerBI to communicate on multiple projects and programs at a time.

·     Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate.

·     Ability to understand and communicate technical issues.

·     Highly adaptable to changing environment.

·     Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.

·     Situational awareness of when to listen and when to be assertive.

·     Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.

·     Ability to keep team engaged and on task.
