Getting interference when sensor is 1 room away

Hi All,

I setting up a Raspberry weather station with JemRF parts.

• RPI gateway
• Temp / Hum sensor (#14)
  
• Temp / Hum / Pressure sensor (#40)
  

To experiment I have gateway and #14 in the same room, Sensor #40 is in the next room. Data from #14 are clear, but from #40 (next room) are garbled. Is that to be expected? I understand the manufacturer website says the signal works through wall to about 30m. Mine is far less than that.

Any settings in the hardware that I need to adjust?

Try position the sensor so the antennae is pointing straight up (vertical). If that doesn’t work increase the NOMESSAGE setting to 3 or 4. Noisy radio environment could contribute to poor signal. You can try different frequencies and channels to find one that works best in your environment. 

If you bring sensor 40 closer to the receiver with no obstacles, does that resolve the problem? What type of walls separate the sensor from the receiver (brick, drywall?).

Hi,

Hm, copy / pasting a screen shot results in 'Message Deleted!' ???

My setup is in a pretty dense apartment environment. Lot's of wifi/bt/rf ...
Walls are cheap drywall. Antennae are line up vertically.

I've moved #14 to #40 instead. #14 does better

I would like to try changing channel / frequency. But what if I goof setting the sensor. I will never be able to connect to it again. Is there a factory reset procedure?

Hello,

Putting sensor #40 in the same room (4m from gateway) resolves the problem. Disappointing result for the transmission distance, though.
