I'm getting the following in my terminal:
Version 2.34.0 of pretext is available.  You are currently using version 2.30.2.
To upgrade, run `pretext upgrade`.
PreTeXt project found in `/workspaces/MAT2705-DEs-with-Linear-Algebra`.
warning: Using CLI version 2.30.2 but project's `requirements.txt`
warning: is configured to use 2.18.1. Consider either installing
warning: CLI version 2.18.1 or running `pretext update`
warning: to update `requirements.txt` and other managed files to match 2.30.2.
Now preparing local server to preview your project directory `/workspaces/MAT2705-DEs-with-Linear-Algebra`.
(Reminder: use `pretext deploy` to deploy your built project to a public
GitHub Pages site that can be shared with readers who cannot access your
  personal computer.)

starting server ...
Running in a codespace, so using a subprocess server.
Starting PreTeXt web server
Added pretext web server entry e4db3c17f5 3313 8128 localhost

Server will soon be available at https://turbo-chainsaw-qwwq5rp76663j47-8128.app.github.dev
Opening browser for target `syllabus-web` at https://turbo-chainsaw-qwwq5rp76663j47-8128.app.github.dev/output/syllabus-web
Serving HTTP on 0.0.0.0 port 8128 (http://0.0.0.0:8128/) ...

Nothing is happening when I type `pretext upgrade' in the search on GitHub. What am I doing incorrectly?

Thank you!
Cara

You can upgrade PreTeXt with vs code by using the Command Palette and searching for "PreTeXt: Update installed PreTeXt version".  To get to the command palette, the keyboard shortcuts are either CTRL+SHIFT+P (CMD+SHIFT+P on mac) or F1, but these might be assigned to other things in your browser.  You can also use the search bar at the top of the VS Code window and type ">" first.

It is also possible to upgrade PreTeXt on the command line by opening a terminal (CTRL+SHIFT+` or look for the "Terminal" menu) and typing "pretext upgrade".

Let me know if this doesn't help.

Hi Cara,

This post is a little out of date now, because you don't have to update PreFigure separately anymore - it updates when PreTeXt does - but I think if you ignore that part the rest of it should be what you need, including screenshots.
