Job Title: DevOps Engineer
Location: Oakland, CA/Alpharetta, GA
Duration: Long Term Contract
Job Description:
An ideal candidate for the position would be
someone who is familiar with the DevOps tools that we (and many others) use
namely:
Git
Subversion
Jenkins
Artifactory
Rundeck
Maven
Skills/Experience: They should be comfortable with being able to configure and diagnose
issues with the use of all these tools that are frequently encountered by
our customers, namely developers and release engineers. Being able to code
a Jenkins build Job or pipeline would be a good skill to have but its more
important that they are able to diagnose and fix issues in existing builds.
They should be familiar
with common issues that are encountered that cause builds to fail such as
out of memory, disk full, missing libraries, missing TLS certificates etc.
and if they dont know how to address these issues actively to seek help and
not sit idle. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable experience in a
well-run, encouraging and supportive team.
They should be able to
do simple scripting in Groovy or shell to correct issues. Knowledge of a
programming language and having done development will be a bonus. Knowing
how to make a REST call from a script is an important skill as well as
being able to recognize their own programming mistakes and correct them and
if not knowing when to reach out for help.
Its important to be able
to work collaboratively with the team and follow the rituals driven by an
agile process which uses Kanban boards and Jira to track work. Being
willing to take on assignments even if they involve slightly unfamiliar new
tools and techniques will be appreciated. Speaking up and adding to the
overall knowledge of the team is important for success in the position.
