Hello everyone:

I’m not sure if this is where I’m supposed to put this.  The Pearl District NET doesn’t have a page setup yet and I didn’t make a note of where Susan told me to introduce myself during the Google Hangout, so I hope this is okay!

My name is David Greenlee, a NET “Trainee” from the Pearl District.  I haven’t gone through CERT/NET training yet due to several scheduling conflicts and inclement weather cancellations.  Rest assured I’ll be taking them as soon as Jeremy announces the dates.  In the interim I’m completing all the online classes I can through FEMA and attending as many Red Cross meetings as my schedule will allow.

I’m former Army and EMT-B and am currently assigned to the Cascade Region Red Cross Disaster Action Team Health Services. (Wow is that a mouthful!) I’m also in my 7^th consecutive term back in school at PCC/PSU Dual Enrollment pursuing a Masters in Nursing.  My intention is to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. (PMHNP)

I moved to Oregon 10 years ago this upcoming Halloween and I absolutely love it here.. I’m originally from Detroit, where I worked as a consultant to several US law enforcement agencies, so most of my skillset comes through my experience with military and law enforcement.  Despite this, I’m a fast learner (and humble to boot) so I’m excited for the chance to work with all of you!

IMO, this is a great place to introduce yourself. That is a fantastic list of skills and actions you have there sir. Than you for doing what you do and for sharing it with us. We are lucky to have folks like you interested in the program! I am really excited about this new effort to create more open lines of communication and looking forward to seeing what we can build here!

Thanks for the warm welcome!  I can sense this is something one could quickly become passionate about. 

Speaking of communicating, Amazon delivered my  BaoFeng UV-5R yesterday.  Any suggestions for the absolute beginner?
