Hi guys,

I am new to Polymer and I was wondering what do I need to host a Polymer website on a webserver?

Do I need Python? PHP?

Thanks,
Ara

You just need to include the polymer library

Just to be clear, Polymer is a client-side technology. You don't need any server tech to run it. Typically though, you do need to run a web server to preview an app. This is because the browser has security restrictions running pages from file:://. Any web hosting will work.

Is there an optimal hosting platform Polymer devs would endorse, though?

My test deploy to a public Google Drive takes much longer to load elements than my local python SimpleHTTPServer, for instance.

I'm biased in this regard, but at Divshot we have a static web hosting platform-as-a-service and we're hosting our own Polymer apps on it quite successfully.

We really want to support the Web Components / Polymer ecosystem (just did a blog post series on it last week), so if you go to http://www.divshot.com/code and use the code "POLYMER" you'll get $15 in hosting credit on Divshot.

Sorry for the shameless plug, but it is actually pertinent to the conversation :)

Thanks Michael. Appreciate your support here and in Polymer articles on your blog. I was able to push to effortlessly push to divshot. But I didn't find this improved load performance.

I’ll have to look around for forums on optimising Polymer for production environments. But thanks for helping to confirm this isn't a hosting specific issue.
