I am sorry if this question sounds silly - I have not been following Polymer closely in the past couple of months.

I can see there is a 0.8-preview branch which seems to be destined for becoming an official beta. It is a couple of hundred commits ahead of master but also more than a thousand commits behind.
On the other hand, the blog only mentions 0.5.X releases.

What is the difference?

Which one should I use if i wanted to do a proof of concept project?

Regards,

Karl

Polymer 0.8 is still under active development but it will become the official beta. We're still making hotfixes and bug updates to the 0.5.x version. The documentation site also only contains material about 0.5. Early next year, we'll have more updates, docs, and samples on the new stuff. Until then, you can learn a bit more from Matt's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LT6W5QVCJI

IMO, I would use 0.5.x today, then look to migrate when 0.8 is released. The plan is to make the migration as painless as possible.
