core-ajax go method not working

I have this core-ajax element

    <core-ajax  

      id="ajax" 

      method="POST" 

      url="{{url}}" 

      params="{{item}}"

      handleAs="json" 

      response="{{response}}">

    </core-ajax>

and this function which is called when paper-fab is pressed.

submitLogin: function()

{

    this.$.ajax.go();

}

Uncaught TypeError: undefined is not a function

(anonymous function)                                        polymer.js:1987

dispatcher.gestureTrigger

any clue? I made this script with help of http://stackoverflow.com/questions/24982090/polymer-form-using-paper-input-and-core-ajax
