You probably didn't specify the `is` property in your element in the Polymer call.

<dom-module id="my-element">
<script>
Polymer({
is: 'my-element'
})
</script>
</dom-module>

That's an 0.5 error message, so you have some 1.0 elements running against an 0.5 Polymer library, which will not work. You need to update to Polymer 1.x to use these elements (1.2.3 is the most recent version). 

This particular string doesn't occur in the 1.0 version of the library:
