I was looking at the polymer-grid-layout demo and saw this snippet in demo.html:

https://github.com/Polymer/polymer-grid-layout/blob/master/demo.html

<polymer-element name="grid-test">
    <template>
      <polymer-grid-layout nodes="{{nodes}}" layout="{{layout}}"></polymer-grid-layout>

      <panel id="toolbar">toolbar</panel>

I haven't been able to find any information on the <panel> tag. Can anyone point out to me where this tag is defined and documented?

Regards
Steve

That tag is neither defined nor documented anywhere, I completely made it up for that example.

Arbitrary made-up tag names will generally not validate, but they are simply created as instances of HTMLUnknownElement.

Ahh, thanks for the quick response. I was pulling my hair out thinking it must be a part of the standard I wasn't finding!

Would it even be legal, were it to exist, given that it does not contain a hyphen?

`panel` would not be definable as a Custom Element because it has no hyphen.

However, you can always make up tag names and they will work in general (as just instances of HTMLUnknownElement).

Obviously, I shouldn't have done that here, because it's unnecessarily confusing. Sorry about that. =P

Yeah, I thought it might be a part of the standard, like <template> or <canvas>.

Right now I'm trying to get <polymer-grid-layout> to work with <template repeat> without much luck as it's not clear to me how to coordinate nodes.
