Polymer select element ?

Hello community, is there a paper element for a select field or how would you advice one to implement a select-like element in Polymer. With core-selector and paper-item ? Keeping in mind that we need state data like value and selectedIndex. I have a draft element that populates a native select field with rows from a google-sheets element, but I want / need the select element to have a Polymer look-and-feel .Thanks.

paper-dropdown-menu provides this type of thing:

You can use it with a core-menu to manage selection sate.
