No Philosophy Needed

Does the coral rose

with its musky perfume

need a philosophy to be itself?

Does the hummingbird

hovering over the blazing red dahlia

need religion to reflect its wonder?

I don’t need to study sacred texts

to see light on the water,

how the tree branches cast shadows

like a Monet painting.

What a blessing to behold

the sunflower peering down at me

with it’s golden orb

and the astonishing

litter of pumpkins,

their orange roundness

ripening in the cool autumn air.

And you, my dear friends

are the open books I love to read

your presence

a sun in my heart

warming my soul with

the wonder of you.

Do not imagine that you are alone in your village, in your city, or among the infinite worlds.

Do not imagine that you are enchained to this time and this space.

Do not imagine that upon your death, loneliness will become eternal.
