hi there

I'd like to change the definition of FINGERTYPE as my music progresses  (sometimes below and sometimes above).  However, if I attempt to redefine it I get an error.  As far as I can tell, I can only set FINGERTYPE before I *include "Fingering" (and there is no undefine command)

So that forces all fingers to be above or below,  but I want some above and some below.

So I think therefore that I have to define a second set of Fingering macros (for below as the default is above).  Is that correct ?

cheers
Neil

Quick reply ... I'll look in detail later ... if you only want one or two to be below you should be able to say, for example, "&3/b"  because the /b will override the default. If there are lots below it might indeed be easier to define another set of macros.

Regards,
Philip

yes I found that - it’s great slabs of fingers that I want above or below.  So I have a defined a new set, but really, typing &1b is not very different from typing &1/b !

well I think I am happy to just make do with /b

The other fingering thing I'm trying to do is put a curved bracket (like a fermata without the dot) underneath two fingers to show  finger substitution. That is proving elusive (I'm trying to draw a right paren and rotate it!)...

You can rotate text: try something like  "("/rot90 and see what it looks like!

ah I was trying to find an escape sequence or unicode to draw the bracket  and not having much success!  This is rather easier.  So…

"\rm\\sc\31"/b/c "("/rot103/b/c/u5/r5 g

gets me this
