Hi Philip,

I am editing a score which has

[bass 0] f` f' c'-;

In the source manuscript f` has stem up and the other two notes have stem down which looks much better than very long stems when all stems are down. In PMW I can achieve this effect with

[bass 0] c`-\su\ f'-\sw\ c'-
(I have put the first note lower)

But with

[bass 0] f`-\su\ f'-\sw\ c'-

I am getting error

PMW version 5.33-DEV                                                                                                                     ** Error: insufficient space to print notes on opposite sides of beam                                       Detected in bar 2 stave 7 movement 46

I tried to experiment with \sl-N\ but it seems we cannot combine two modifiers.

What would you suggest here?

Thank you,

Jan

You can combine the two modifiers. This works for me:

f`-\su sl-4\ f'-\sw sl-4\ c'-\sl-4\

That is, shorten all the stems.  It also looks better, I think, if you also put [beammove 2] at the start.

Regards,
Philip
