May 18, Season Opening, First Hike

Dear Friends;

 Our first hike of the season will take place on May 18, 2026, as per our schedule.

It will be the Sulphur Trail in Miette.

.

However, I will NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND, since I will be away in May.

We will need some other person to step in and to lead the hike.

Our typical itinerary is:

- 1000h: Meet at the trailhead in Miette

- 1015h: Hike up to the top (around 3 h return)

- 1400h; Lunch

- 1430h
: Visit the Hot Springs

- 1700h: Dinner (optional)

- 1830h: Drive back to Edmonton

Who wants to lead/ coordinate? Please step in.

hi ppl ... i can be leader this time 😁

not classical leader rather companion ... being there multiple times, it guarantees we won't get lost 😉

easy peasy japanesy ... usually ending up soaking in the miette pool 

but i would like to move date to sunday 17may, to accommodate working class 🤔

let me know, and we can follow mike's timetable ... otherwise we are on our own 

the only thing i ask is to bring bear spray ... the more the better, just in case 🤪

actually i ask for everyne's phone number and specific plans so we are all accounted for at the end of the day !

hi gorolazy, 

so the hike is on sunday 17.may

    - meeting at 10:00 at miette hot springs parking

    - hike cca 4hrs

    - snack at the top, lunch on parking upon return at 14:30

    - then visit hot springs 15:00-17:00, optional

    - then dinner at 17:00, optional

    - drive back to edmonton, at cca 18:30

other information, from google: 

    - drive edmonton - miette hot springs cca 4hrs, 340km

    - all visitors require a park pass per car

    - sulphur skyline hike takes 4hrs, 8km, 700m elevation ... rated moderate to hard

    - so far 

        confirmed participants: boris, keith, arjun, dragan, nancy with children

        not confirmed: bozenka, joanna

        anyone else ?! gas prices are high, pls coordinate transport  

    - expected weather, as of today ... but might change
