Enabling XMP on the DRAM will have any performance impact on the NVDIMM storage types (DAX or Block Addressable)?  Not sure if XMP is supported on the NVDIMMs yet.

I don't know much about XMP, but I think the answer to your question would be both platform- and NVDIMM-specific.  I'm not sure this list has anyone who can give a generic answer...

XMP - stands for eXtreme Memory Profile, an Intel specification for DDR3/4 RAM. Enabling this memory profile in BIOS lets the system overclock RAM speed as advertised speed.

Right, that's the part I knew :-)  What I'm saying is whether or not overclocking is supported and how it impacts NVDIMMs is a question for the specific platform/NVDIMM vendor.  Sorry I'm not more help on this one.

Vish - For all intents and purposes, a NVDIMM-N functions just like an standard Volatile RDIMM - DDR3/DDR4 from host interface perspective. If you have a system capable of configuring for XMP, try it out with both standard DIMM and a NVDIMM - they both should behave the same.

Typically, during boot up , BIOS trains and locks it to certain speed which inturn will be used for data transfers. 

In either case, DAX/Block drivers or for that matter any host interface is agnostic of this low level feature....
