Hi All-

I'm appealing to the collective wisdom to see if I can get some clarity on all of the things that are living in Gowanus water... A friend of mine has been working on developing easy to build water purification systems and is interested in seeing how difficult it would be to make Gowanus water potable. We suspect that simply running samples through a still might not be enough.

We're hoping to be able to test before & after samples to get a profile of what is (or isn't) being removed, and are not sure where to get testing that is both (reasonably) thorough and affordable for someone working outside of a lab. I'm assuming that the labs recommended for residential water testing probably won't test for as much as we'd like.

I've been looking at some of the EPA literature, but was wondering if anyone on this list is already working on this kind of thing, or can point me towards some resources that might help us to figure out where we should be focusing our investigations?

Thanks!

Bronwen
