Hi, I'm working to build various docker images that include a plink2 install, and preferably, the specification of these would contain specific, known version of plink2.

I note that when a new version is made available on the binary downloads page, that previous assets appear to be retired/removed.  For example the previous download link prior to release of Alpha 5.10 is now broken:

```
curl -L https://s3.amazonaws.com/plink2-assets/alpha5/plink2_linux_avx2_20231212.zip
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<Error><Code>NoSuchKey</Code><Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message><Key>alpha5/plink2_linux_avx2_20231212.zip</Key><RequestId>FSCJ92TZXM22S7B9</RequestId><HostId>bsgPYDSyr+TtV9ayAUjc8E1uSO/doiGcKYFJCfaRdIGMoRl6JPfZBZZx+ejAbLhR9GTr90qVQX8=</HostId></Error>
```

Are there any static URLs available that continue to be supported for released versions?  Currently, if a docker image is rebuilt after the release of a new version this fails as the URL used when originally drafted is no longer valid.

Thanks,

Will Tarran

Normally, links like that continue to work.  In this case, I recently broke them because they lacked a major bugfix (for biobank-scale multithreaded —make-bed).

(I also announced my intention to break those links a month in advance; see the current plink 2.0 version history.)

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the prompt response!  My apologies, I hadn't seen the announcement on that version, so I guess that's my bad.  Cam I assume, then that the current URLs for 5.10 will stay active, then, if I were to use that version?

Will

Yes; because I have pushed a bunch of users onto a5 builds, I will be giving the a5 branch the "LTS" treatment, with bugfix support through at least the end of 2027.  With any luck, there will be no need to delete the current link; if there is a similarly major bugfix in the future that does warrant breaking the link, there will be at least a month advance warning along with another backward-compatible a5 build to migrate to.
