I installed TOPS-10 7.04 and created a new user [27,101] test.  When I attempt to login as test, I don’t get prompted for a password.  However, REACT shows this:

I interpret the “Password under timesharing and batch” to mean that a password is required.  Is it because I’m using the operator console to login that I’m not prompted for a password?

How, using the SIMH pdp10 (KS) simulator, can I connect to other lines (I used MONGEN as per Quentin’s log)?

I run 7.04 also. But I have not added any users.  If you copied the ini file from the version 6 and modified it there should be a telnet port you can telnet to to log on
as a normal user.  I forget what "Password under Timesharing" means.  I did look it up and think it does not mean what you think.  But my memory is poor so it may
mean just that.  But then why no password required.  I would think even at the console you'd need to enter a PW.

Hi Tim. The issue for me was that I was logged on the operator console. When I switched to pdp10-kl and configured some inbound connections to regular terminals, I’m getting password prompts. In REACT, setting “password timesharing” under requirements prompts for passwords on regular tty lines, but not the operator console. Not sure how to force password checking on the console.

I can't seem to find the copy of REACT or the document where it's described.  So you may be right.  I just don't know.  Last time I worked on a pdp-10 was in 1981.
