>For folks possibly (probably?) overwhelmed by Bill’s
incredible productivity
I'll explain my 'incredible productivity'. I did complex C for about 20 years, writing compilers and such, then went to a new company where we built a large telecom app in a newfangled language called 'Java'. I was the lead architect/dev for the server side and the app went on to become the industry leader. Well, 3 acquisitions later by larger and larger companies, the product development had turned into many hand-wavers, a micromanager who thought he was a brilliant software architect, and teams of cheap outsourced devs whose only goal was to use as many open-source tools as possible to grow their resumes. Java turned into a kitchen-sink language of ever-increasing ad-hoc syntax. The app grew to a massive mess. I couldn't stand it any longer, quit, and retired early. I didn't think I'd ever write code again. Then along came the pidp-1 and for some reason, I started tweaking. That reminded me just how much I loved C, yacc, and lex. The pent-up coding urges let loose, and here we are. I've brought all the project discipline I learned over time to this hence the documentation, commented code, etc.
More than anyone probably wanted to know, but I hope you enjoy the results!.
