Ready to install the speaker foam. What type of glue works the best on the material ?

I'm going to try double sided tape rather than glue since my first attempt, using Gorilla glue, made a messy job.

Part of the problems was that I tried to put the foam in without disassembling the panel.

What I did was lay the foam on top of the visible panel with the standoffs pointing up, then laid the back panel with the speakers carefully on top of that, and locating the standoffs to the holes, carefully pushed it on until it was seated on all 8 standoffs. Then I removed the back speaker panel and carefully eased the foam down over the standoffs until it was laying completely flat on the visible panel (on the inside).
I replaced the rear panel and added the nuts and tightened them down, and when I was done the speaker panel looked pretty good. I don't think I'll need to do anything more. The panels I've completed plus the operator panel (no electronics yet) I set into the built frame so I could see how it looks. I'm pretty impressed with the kit.

For anyone who is interested, I've been documenting my PiDP-1 kit build on a set of web pages here:  https://huntrods.com/pidp1.html

(and yea, I've made mistakes. I find documenting them and my solutions helpful to me for future projects.). I'll post today's work tomorrow.

Hi,

With the 7" HDMI display in position I didn't need glue or tape to fix the foam. The display kept the foam in position. Choosing the correct display was my problem that required some reassembly to fix. Luckily I had two types to choose from, the display with the least electronics was my solution.

Regards,
Garry

I put my foam without the screen between the 2 pcb's with no glue . I make holes in the foam where the standoffs are and assemble thr parts. After all i cut the foam wich lokks outside the pcb's with a scissor and it looks perfect.
