Thoughts on a new DGT alternative?

I have been looking at making a DIY reed switch e-board and using it alongside picochess as others have done for a bit but with most projects the issue is finding the time to actually implement it. Due to the time I have been thinking maybe the best way forward is just saving up to just get a DGT board since I haven't really heard anyone have any complaints with them besides the fact that they are expensive. 

Then today I saw that this Kickstarter launched and while I would prefer a slightly larger size it seems to be pretty decent for the price. Not having a ton of experience with e-boards though I figured I would post here to see what you all think of this project and if it looks like a pretty feature full alternative to a DGT board for basic usage. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/chessnut/chessnut-air-digital-chess-setwooden-frame-only-from-99

I have been following this launch - they have heavily advertised before launching. The size is a deal breaker for me (similar to how the Square Off Grand Kingdom set looks are a deal breaker).
