      Thought the class of ’63 would like to see the pictures of George Steitz receiving a plaque from the army.  The note below is from George’s son Tom.  Coach looks pretty good for 99 years old.

At the World War II museum, the top general from Dad's division flew in to personally give him that plaque and they figure he’s the last guy alive in his division that actually stormed the beaches
The top general, the guy on the right in the picture and in the ceremony there must have been 3000 people that gave daddy a standing ovation

All – Jean Davis told me he was recently interviewed about his D-day experiences on CNN. And I heard that he was still refereeing soccer games! He clearly is a legend and may live forever! – Dale K

Thank you for sharing this.  For what it’s worth, George had more influence on my life growing up than any other person.   Fortunately I was able to tell him that in person a couple of years ago.   Sitting in his backyard, talking about our combat experiences over coffee.  He holds a special place in my heart.
