Hi all,

Just a quick note/reminder that community members who are active in the FIG may be eligible to vote in the upcoming Core Committee elections. We (the secretaries) are currently compiling a list of people which we'll post shortly but if you think you might be entitled to vote (the main guideline is 5 posts on FIG mediums such as the mailing list or Github) then please drop us a message so we can ensure that we've considered you and added you if you are eligible.

As a secondary request, does anyone have a script that uses the google groups API to output a list of posters and how many emails they've sent to a google group over a time period. I recall someone this did this a few years ago but I cannot remember who nor find the google groups email thread. This would make this process a little easier as whilst we still need to consider people posting on other mediums like Github and check if posts meet the non-trivial requirement, it at least gives us a list of names we can begin to work from.

Hello,

We all know quality != quantity. I'm sure you're factoring that in here.

There's people in this group that aren't that active, whom I rely on their judgement to vote on such matters.

Can you, Michael or another appointed secretary, open up to the whole FIG group the logic behind deciding a selective list of people can vote in CC rather than the group as a whole?

I am of the opinion that all projects who have expressed an interest to remain in FIG after 3.0 transition who will represent us in the CC, and thus it should not be closed off but instead open to all member projects.

Many thanks,
Paul

"might be entitled to vote" ? Where is this coming from? All FIG members are eligible to vote, regardless of their activity.

I'm adding my questioning to this as well. I just skimmed the bylaws (and while I could have missed something), where are we pulling this from?

I know in the past we have talked about minimum traffic guidelines to flag accounts for inactivity and eventually be removed as member projects, but if a project has already stated they wanted to stay with FIG 3.0, why would they then be also put under this extra guideline?

From what I read here the note about 5 posts and being active is about
"Community Members" not FIG-Members (Voting Members)!

So people being active in the FIG that are *not* FIG-Member (Voting
representative) might be eligible to vote.

Though I'd also be interested in the corresponding part of the bylaw ;)

Just my 0.02€

Cheers

Andreas

Ok, I was misreading the original post as Project Members, and missed that in my skimming while I was on mobile. Thanks!

As now reiterated by others, and in my first post, this is about community members who might be eligible to vote, not projects. All project representatives can vote but community members who can prove they are active within the FIG as per the bylaws also have a vote.

Please see the Elections bylaw for more information.

Thanks,
FIG Secretaries

Thanks for clarifying that you were referring to community members.
