Request to Join PHP-FIG as a Member Project

Hello PHP-FIG committee members and peers!

My name is Buster Neece, and I am the creator and primary maintainer of a free and open-source web radio management suite named AzuraCast (https://azuracast.com/). AzuraCast is a predominantly PHP web application combined with the infrastructure and setup tools necessary to provide a turnkey "web radio in a box" experience for self-hosted station operators. The underlying application is based on our own library (AzuraCore) which extends and integrates the Slim PHP microframework, the Doctrine ORM and other components. Across the application, we implement and strongly support a number of existing PSR standards.

As an end-user-facing application rather than a developer-oriented tool, our popularity on GitHub isn't entirely representative of our installed user base out on the web, which numbers in the tens of thousands at this point and is growing at a significant rate.

I'm unclear if there are any thresholds in the PHP-FIG organization for the size or adoption rate of a project such that it merits joining PHP-FIG as a member project, but it would be an honor and a privilege to help be involved in any capacity with this immensely valuable organization.

Do you want to vote or to participate in standard creation? As far as I know, anyone could join a working group for the standard. Being a voting member isn't required.

Regarding the purpose of my original message, there are a list of PHP projects, both frameworks and larger web applications, that are associated with PHP-FIG listed on the group's web site as "Member Projects": https://www.php-fig.org/personnel/

I'm interested in possibly adding my project to this list and filling the capacity as the project's representative in matters relating to PHP-FIG operations. As far as my understanding of the posted by-laws goes, this also confers some eligibility to serve on working groups and limited voting on proposed standards.

While I'm also aware that the by-laws state that any application for project membership into PHP-FIG must be sponsored by a current project or by a Core Committee member, I was directed to this mailing list as a good place to introduce myself and express my interest in general.

I have long been both an implementer and vocal supporter of the PSR standards, but it was only recently that some of the members of the organization talked about it on social media and got me particularly interested in participating in some capacity.

I apologize if this isn't the correct venue for expressing interest, but I would greatly appreciate if anyone could direct me on next steps to take at this point.

Don't worry,  this is the correct avenue to push this kind of request. Alexander was just pointing out that not being a project member is not an hindrance to working group participation. If you know someone in the CC or other project members that is willing to sponsor you, that good, otherwise we secretaries can call a vote on that.

Thank you, and excellent to hear I'm in the right place.

I'm familiar with a number of the projects and core community members, and I follow them on social media, but I'm not too confident that any of them would be familiar enough with my project to sponsor its entry. I suppose this is evidence that I should be doing a better job with networking! In the meantime, I suppose a vote by the secretaries would work.
