Heya,

With Joe's resignation, we are down to two secretaries. Jonathan stepped
up and told me he would like to fill in the gap. AFAIK there is nobody
else that's interested, but if that's incorrect please do step forward
and find a sponsor to nominate you. Otherwise I guess we can put this to
a vote in two weeks time?

You may know Jonathan Reinink (https://twitter.com/reinink) from his
work on The PHP League (the Glide and Plates projects). He's also the
one responsible for the redesign of the PHP-FIG's website last year. In
addition to being an active member of the open source PHP community, he
would also bring some welcome marketing and design expertise to the
secretary team and the FIG in general.

Best,
Jordi

Sorry, I'd not posted the official opening of nominations (It was sitting as a draft in my inbox). There are other candidates but I imagine they hadn't posted as I'd neglected to post the topic opening nominations formally.

Jonathan, could you please formally accept (or reject) your nomination, then I can formally list you as a candidate.

These last few months since Samantha, Joe and I came into being secretaries, we'd like to highlight to members (as most of you are likely unaware), that Jonathan has played an essential part in the running of the website. Having been the one who built it, he has helped us maintain it over the past few months and his frontend, design and Jekyll knowledge and skills have been extremely helpful and as such we recently granted him push access to our website repository. This is not  an endorsement of him as a potential secretary, but simply us providing information which you might find useful and we're aware it's something most members may be unaware of as it is FIG involvement that does not take place on the mailing list.

Sorry, almost forgot this one. (No name in the Topic)

Another good candidate.

We have many potentially good nominations for FIG secretary, and you are one of them. So to help members choose, please provide some insight:

1. Why did you accept the nomination?
2. What are your plans?
3. Similarly, what do you hope to accomplish as secretary?
4. At the moment do you see any reason why you would not remain for the full term?
5. Will you be able to keep a level head?

Happy to answer:

1. Why did you accept the nomination?

Mostly because I value the FIG and coding standards in general. I've followed the FIG since the beginning, and have always looked for ways to be involved. This is the reason I redesigned the website last year. I see this secretary position as simply another way to help out.

2. What are your plans?

I see myself adding the most value in the maintenance and improvement of the website as well as the other marketing streams (ie. Twitter). Well I'm a PHP developer at heart, I have lots to offer in the design/marketing/front-end space. I think I'd also help with the GitHub organization administration, and some of the other "behind the scenes" tasks.

3. Similarly, what do you hope to accomplish as secretary?

Honestly, if there is one thing I could wish to do during my term it would be to improve the general perception of the FIG. The FIG's brand and reputation are critical components to it's ongoing success.

4. At the moment do you see any reason why you would not remain for the full term?

No. I've spoken with Samantha and Micheal and feel I have a solid understanding of the time commitment required.

5. Will you be able to keep a level head?

Yes. While quite passionate, I tend to stay clear of drama.
