Wow , Not this soon , said many. No one had expected BNP to turn anti democratic, anti free speech , anti human rights so soon , just within two months .

So some are raising questions, is BNP on the path that AL had traveled ? Also , it appears BNP also adopted the policy of appeasing India in order to stay in power .
They are saying screw the July chetona .

1. From day one it has betrayed on the referendum by not accepting the validity of it, not honoring the obligation of legislating the referendum.
2. Then came the the obligation of legislation of the Yunus era decrees , or Oddhadesh. The let the Goom Oddhadesh , human right commission Oddhadesh , banking resolutions etc go .
3. Then came the persecution on free speech . 6 people were arrested for writing comments on Facebook. One was arrested for sharing cartoons. Hasina used to do these .
4. The the whole so called Gupto thing. BNP trying to nullify July spirit by maligning it with Gupto. Writing Gupto on the graffiti of July . Since BNP was not part of the leadership in July revolution it wanted to marginalized it.
5. When Shibir protested BNP showed up with Kirich Ram da etc. just like Chatro league

So the question is Is BNP decidedly following on AL path ?

Not to mention BNP’s appeasement of India . .

Worse than Awami League. Tarek is silently corrupt and he is a minka  (silent) Saitan, No doubt, his the party is heading toward a dictatorship and a family dynasty. He is shamelessly
preparing his daughter for it.Tarek is breaking every political principle of Zia.. Tarek is the unworthy son of a worthy father. He should know politics doesn't forgive betrayers.  There are plenty of examples, one is Sheikh Mujib and his deceased family..

The materials requirements needed to be an evil or to be a great man are mostly the same . The difference is in the goal . It takes a lot of cleverness, conviction and courage to be an evil as it does to be a great man .

Hasina was smart , ruthless and audacious.
Zia was similarly audacious, brave and smart .
What they did with their inner abilities are different.
Two had two different objectives & goals.
Hasina became a fascist
Zia became a statesman (great man)

But, I think TZ has none of it. I do not think he is courageous , smart or man with conviction or have the capacity to discern & navigate complexities and trickeries and conspiracies.
TZ can and is being used and manipulated by BNP’s top level leaderships like MF and Amir Khosru .
Everyone knows Salauddin & Waker are  resident representatives of India . Yet TZ feels helpless and out of wit how to handle them and has capitulated to their wishes . This comes at the great expense of BNP brand name and political cost . People no longer believe in BNP as symbol of Bangladesh nationalism or democratic rights .
NCP can fill in the void . Great opportunity for  NCP.
I fear another revolution coming in year or so if BNP continues to betray people and become Awami-light .

BNP was sold out long before people realized it. In London, out of Bangladeshis watch,Tarek the owner of the BNP enterprise must have made business deals with the RAW. The rest is the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh history. Like in the Indian way, cool and calculated India is guiding Tarek, not to act like Hasina, who had a big mouth, but to Tarek act like a smooth operator and an actor taught how to dance in Indian tune.
India is still undermining Bangladesh today, It is not Bangladesh in 2014.or Bangladesh of pre July 24.
Therefore, before we try to understand the new BNP, we have to understand how RAW operates in Bangladesh and why so? It's all written in the Chanaikko principles. Every opposition party leader must read every word of the book. Bangladesh to survive, the opposition parties should have their own shadow cabinet with a strong emphasis on monitoring the details of who is doing what for whose interest..

I can only say, Tarek is no Zia, not by an iota.

Many years ago, during the high Anti-Hasina sentiments in the country, I asked one of the top BNP leaders why Tarek was not trying to return to Bangladesh and lead the party, arguing what the AL can do against him. Arrest him on arrival ? But that would skyrocket his popularity, I said. The leader said, Tarek was a coward and could never try that. We know, Tarek confessed that it was not his dicision to return to the country. What a pathetic man!

Tarek Zia , in my opinion, is a low caliber average person who lacks capacity to lead a nation. India had followed up on BNP’s 17 years of begging after the fall of Hasina .
BNP grabbed India’s offer with two hands , thinking they must not make the same mistake of 2001-2006. India capitalized on the fear it had instilled in BNP . TZ did not want to be hanged upside down again . He now has a family to feed.
On top the already sold out MF and Amir Khosru, who were on their knees begging mercy from Amit Shah, have convinced TZ that he has no way but to agree to all of India’s demand in order to have assurance that India will ‘cooperate’ with BNP .
And BNP must follow ShilongUddin as India’s rep in Bangladesh.

I am afraid that in future , could be 5 or 10 years, there will be a big revolution by Jamaat & NCP like minded people & low/mid level army .  It will be a bloody civil war . This will happen inevitably .
Oppositions must start making plans . Oppositions must establish support from China to counter Indian attack to annihilate Bangladeshi Muslim nationalism opposing Indian hegemony . The outcome depends on the depth of penetration opposition can make in common people .
