Role Based CDE Dashboard

Hi Group,

I have created 6 different Dept. dashboard in pentaho 5.2 CE..Now i want to show each particular dashboard for some specific user ie you can say each dept having some employee that will be accessing some particular each dept dashboard.and one admin user that can see all the dashboard.its just like role based dashboard.

Is there any way how i can do this ...Please suggest me some idea if possible .

Are you saying that you have created 6 CDE dashboards and want to hide some of them from the users? Well, assuming that you have done your homework on the data side and that is perfectly protected, you could just go to the properties of the dashboards that you want to hide and change them, making them available for each specific user or role. You can go deeper and configure the spring security to filter on this stuff, but I don't believe that would be needed in your case, unless you expand on the use case.

Hi Pedro M,

Thanks for you reply ..In my scenario having  100 user .Each user having access for  some particular dept dashboard .or  some user having multi - dept dashboard access .

In that case how i can do ...do i need to modified any security file or how i will expand my security some thing like that ..

One more thing is there possible when user login in pentaho that will be landing on specific dashboard.

for example i want when sale user login that will be landing on sale dashboard after login in pentaho and account dept will be landing on account dashboard .some thing like that ..plz suggest any idea or guideline how i can do ..

I haven't done it personally, but you can customize the default page for the pentaho user console, you can also check the Community Startup Tabs (CST) for that matter. In a 100+ user environment, I'd use roles and control the permissions of my dashboards based on roles rather than user names.

Assuming your data is in a metadata or mondrian model, I'd make sure that the data is also being filtered over there and that the mondrian roles (if needed) match the pentaho roles.

Please suggest me one more thing how i can match mondrian role and pentaho role which i have created in bi server.

Where i need to defined that configuration , Any idea.
