He is succeeded by his only son, Charles Francis Topham de Vere BEAUCLERK (b. Feb. 22, 1965), previously styled Earl of Burford, who now becomes the 15th Duke.

The new Duke's only child, James Malcolm Aubrey Edward de Vere BEAUCLERK (b. Aug 2, 1995), previously styled Lord Vere of Hanworth, now becomes the heir apparent.  Presumably, he  will now take his father's old courtesy title.

Perhaps someone with access to DPB online can update the line of succession after the new Earl of Burford.  I believe the next 3 would be the 3 half brothers of the late 14th Duke, Lord Peter (b. 1948), Lord James (b. 1949) and Lord John (b.1950).

The three of them are all sons of the 13th Duke by his second wife.

It has been 8 years 8 months since the death of a non Royal duke, and 5 years since any duke died. You have to go back to the early 17C to find when so long a period occurred.
Will it mean other ducal deaths to come in short space of time?

Correction to my last post. The last non Royal duke to die was the 10th Duke of Roxburghe on 29 August 2019, so the period is 6 years 7 months.

Ironic that the new Duke should succeed just as Parliament is prorogued and the hereditary peers are removed. In 1999 he staged a protest in the House of Lords against the legislation removing any hereditary peers

Also Hereditary Registrar of the Royal Court of Chancery. The 1st Duke of St Albans married Lady Diana, daughter and heiress of the 20th and last Earl of Oxford. Thus giving rise to de Vere in the names of the family.

At risk of sounding like a broken record, anyone interested in reading more about the new duke can see chapter 13 of my book Heirs and Graces where he talks really interestingly about what both the dukedom and the Burford title mean to him. I found him incredibly thoughtful.

Looks like the order should be: 1-5-6-7-8-9-10-2-3-4, with William Rafael and sons bringing up the rear.

There was a BBC TV documentary, "The Last Dukes", about dukes in the 21st century, and the Duke of St Albans was one of the dukes featured. I just found it, so it was 2015.
It appears to be available on Dailymotion, if anyone is interested.

The Duke of St Albans came across as the archetypal chartered accountant, it has to be said, so I am surprised on being reminded that he was the heir who protested about the 1999 Act from the steps of the throne.

According to thepeerage.com, Jinpa Beauclerk and Yontan Beauclerk are the DAUGHTERS of Lord Peter Beauclerk, so that would remove them from the line of succession.

This would make the top 4 (after Earl of Burford):

1. Lord Peter Beauclerk (eldest half brother of the late 14th Duke)
2. Lord James Beauclerk (middle half brother of the late 14th Duke)
3. Lord John Beauclerk (youngest half brother of the late 14th Duke)
4. Gianni Beauclerk (son of Lord John)

According to this post on nobiliana both Jinpa and Yontan are sons - both seem to bear a first forename Tenzin

Lord Peter Beauclerk and his second wife Lechima Tsering Dolma Gyalpo have a second son, Tenzin Yontan de Vere Beauclerk, born in Victoria, British Columbia, probably in January 2008. A brother for Tenzin Jinpa.

I don't think picasa is still working? This is the link to the nobiliana post though you probably have to be a member to open it - just checked the link but got an error message.

With three Dukes in their 90s, Abercorn b 1934, Montrose b April 1935 and Kent, b Oct 1935; and four in their 80s, Sutherland b 1940, Devonshire b April 1944,  Gloucester b Aug 1944  and Wellington 1945 the likelihood of their being other ducal deaths in a relatively short space of time is high.

Will it mean other ducal deaths to come in short space of time?

There's a different documentary, also on YouTube, called "The Lords Tale", centered on the debate and passage of the 1999 House of Lords Act, which features a lot of behind the scenes footage and interviews with peers on their changing role in society and government - the new Duke's protest is featured somewhat prominently, and afterwards the 7th Earl of Onslow relates, derisively, the (probably apocryphal) story of how Nell Gwynn extorted Charles II into creating their son the Duke of St Albans by threatening to throw him out of a window
