Wilma Stirling, 80, passed away June 4, 2018. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana to the late William A. and Mary M. (Gillen) Yoder.

Wilma grew up in South Bend, Indiana and moved to Shelbyville, Indiana she graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1955. After school, she worked a few years as an X-Ray tech, but her real passion in life was children. She taught in the Catholic Schools at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Shelbyville and in later years with Head Start. Wilma was told she would never have children, but she proved them wrong and had four children which she always referred to as her "miracles".

Forty years ago, she married John and together they started a unique Sports Memorabilia Store in Brown County, "Johnny's Sports Nostalgia" which grew to multiple stores in Central Indiana. She lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed water skiing, dancing, golf (two holes in one), and all times spent with family. Wilma never met a stranger and will be missed by everybody she touched.

She is survived by her loving husband, John C. Stirling, Jr.; daughters, Dana (Tony) Cory, Julie Jefferson, and April (Scott) Darst; sons, Andy (Patty) Breedlove, Chris Breedlove, and Jeff (Pam) Stirling; grandchildren, Travis, Jessica, Amelia, Madeline, Emily, Kelsie, Miles, Drew, Matthew, Jake, and Luke; great-grandchildren, Luke, Ema, Rhys, Liam, Murphy, and Finn; sister, Mary Kay Murray; and brothers, Bill and Mike Yoder.

[...]

She m 1980 (as his 2nd m) John Charles STIRLING (born 1948), scion of the baronets of that name & probable heir to the baronetcy (descended from 5th son of the 5th bt).  No issue by this marriage.

It appears she was first married to Mr BREEDLOVE and by him had issue: Dana, Julia, Andy and Chris.  April and Jeff are issue of John STIRLING's first marriage (1966) to Valborg NELSON.

Findagrave actually says she was born 13 Oct 1937, accounting for her stated age of 80.

On the other hand, the obituary may be wrong about her wedding having been "Forty years ago", if it was indeed in 1980 as the sources usually say.

Thanks for printing my wife's obituary.  I did a lot of research on the Stirling of Glorat Baronerty 20 years ago.  I printed the following brochure, a gave a few talks on Ancestry back then.  I believe I'm the 10th 0r 12th Baronet (Don't know if my father & grandfather count)

Of note Wilma and I were married July 18, 1980.

At 78, still in excellent health and those two grandsons are in their 20's now.  Where would we go to prove we are the rightful heirs.  Tried 20 years ago without much success.

Address  1156 Balaton Lane 104 -Greenwood Indiana 46143

Sincerely,
John C. Stirling, Jr.

Paul - thank you for correcting my inexplicable typo in the subject line - Wilma was born 1937 as you say.

John - it's delightful to make your acquaintance.  If you are indeed the heir, then the usual practice would be to count your father and grandfather, however, the Standing Council has deviated from the usual practice (e.g. St John-Mildmay baronets).

Have you ever read the above thread from 2016?
Looking at your attachment Stirling of Glorat 2.jpeg you have William Bromley Cadogan Stirling with only one son William Allen Stirling.
Readers on this group found reference in printed sources (I am not sure which source though) to a second son Robert, but there was significant conjecture that this was another name that William Allen simply used at some point, or was simply an error and no son of that name ever existed.  We believed it was the uncertainty around Robert that may have prevented your line from claiming the title.

I believe that your grandfather and you have tried to claim the baronetcy - are you aware of any feedback from the Standing Council of the Baronetage that might confirm if there is a problem with an unaccounted line?

Henry

(NB - I've intentionally taken your contact details below out of my reply)

Henry:

Thanks for your reply.

Did not read the thread from 2016.  I've been out of ancestry loop for many years.
I came across the Peerage News on the internet a year or so ago, and added my name to the
list.

I did not know my Grandfather made a claim.  He went to Scotland in 1950 or so, but never talked about it much. My father had no interest.  I became interested about 20 or so years ago, my Grandmother passed along what materials she had.  I never made a claim, but I belonged to a Scottish Club in Bloomington, Indiana and the President of Club became interested and may filed a claim on my
behalf.  He left the club and I didn't receive any correspondence.

I did make the brochure, and at least now I know that I'm the probable 12th Baronet of the Stirling of Glorat.

Sincerely,

John C. Stirling, jr.

In answer to John C.Stirling,Jr.'s basic enquiry,a straightforward armorial petition [which obviously should include the necessary genealogy back to the baronetical line] to the Court of the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh should set the ball rolling and suffice [espec. as it is a pre-1707 union baronetcy] ; before a formal petition to the Standing Council of the Baronetage.
