Nice! Now if they could just get the bike
path off-road in Old Town itself

Maybe build them in space? Why should communities be forced to pay much
higher energy prices for already needed energy storage? If communities are
allowing these “data storage” facilities, the whole community should
benefit through the profit the companies are going to make from AI
creators. Energy storage for alternative energy distribution nationwide
should be the goal, not AI.

I used to walk my parent’s dog on the pathway at Ford’s Landing that the Union Street segment would have to use to be off the street.  Cyclists routinely used it as well despite the signs.

Let’s just say I fully understand why people hate cyclists.  We are our own worst enemy.

Totally. I just never understood the reasoning for not making it mixed use like the Falls Church W&OD with separated sections. There’s probably enough room for a really wide path or two, rather than forcing cyclists to deal with either being hit from behind or doored in or near that pathetic unprotected street lane.

The cluelessness of pedestrians at Gravely Point is similar to cyclists ignoring those signs (I always ignore the signs at the Annacostia Riverwalk Trail at the Navy Yard). Then there’s the separated bike/pedestrian lanes along Maine Ave. at National Harbor, where pedestrians regular find it impossible to walk in their section and get really worked up if you say anything to them while they take up both sides of the bike lanes. How about pedestrians that take up both lanes at Hains Point?

There’s lots of hate to go around, but so much could be avoided by sensible, best practices infrastructure. Falls Church is a good example best practices.

Yes. I was on the Falls Church stretch last summer, and if you have the land that should be the baseline design in populated areas.
