Pyrethrin is a relatively safe pesticide as pesticides go.  If pest control companies are spraying your baseboards, they are probably using pyrethroid, a synthetic version.  By the way, if you must use a pest control company the best ones have a huge plastic bug on the roof of their van.  One of the quirks of the USDA rules for calling a food organic is that they are allowed to use “natural” pesticides.  Since pyrethrin is found in flowers like daisies, if derived from plants rather than being synthesized by chemical firms, it can be used by organic farms.  The toxicity of both is basically the same.

Yes to chasing the mercury balls as kids. Also ran behind the mosquito fumigation trunks on summer nights growing up In Florida.  My parents were at par for parents of the 70s. And it was Florida.

At least the dentist is being honest.  We'll all be paying for this virus in so many additional expenses until we croak, then we'll leave the rest for posterity to finish paying.

And I’m not the least bit surprised, they once sent me an invoice for $1.00

Do an experiment yourself and check your temperature immediately when arriving home from a ride, and then later after a cooldown to see what happens.  I'm sure people react differently, and I would think that the outside temperature would matter as well.  You can then see how long a cooldown period, if any, would be required.

If I bike or walk to a medical/dental/other appointment where I'll have to 'pass' a temperature check in order to proceed, do I need to allow 5-10 mins to cool down after I arrive? I assume my body temp will be higher than if I drove a car or was a passenger. Is this correct?

“safe pesticide as pesticides go” would be the key phrase to consider & choose not to spray your baseboards or even outdoors.

Opium & heroine also come from plants.  & while I hope to die in an opium den rather than a nursing home, I don’t want it as part of my daily life while I’m trying to stay alive & functional.

Blue Ridge Cyclery in Charlottesville (Hollymead location) has a bike mechanic workstation set up out front and if the two wheeled patient has to be admitted overnight, there is a $30 fee for sanitizing. No customers allowed inside.  If we want these bike shops to survive we will just have to pay more.

And arsenic. And anthrax?

Per the sanitation charge at the bicycle shop:   Totally understandable because infection control was never before a baseline business practice at bicycle shops.

I was going to say that arsenic isn't organic because it is an element, not a compound containing carbon, but the Wikipedia article on it mentions several toxic compounds containing it and carbon.

(FWIW, I only completed one chemistry class -- in high school -- so take any comments I make on the subject with a grain of sodium chloride.)
