Hey gang, unless there is another beer-related conflict (reply all if so), we'll have our internal comp (Pout Bout), on July 18 in the afternoon. I discussed the format/theme for this year at the last meeting and can do so again, but here's the gist (it's easier than it sounds, I swear).
We are going to do an ingredient 'draft' with no restrictions on style. Everyone who wants to enter (you can email me through February 28th) will choose TWO ingredients to add to a pool. One from barley, hops, or yeast (e.g., pilsner malt, caramel 60, strata, centennial, weizen yeast, 34/70 yeast) and one adjunct (e.g., fruits, non-barley malts like oats or cara-rye, vegetables, spices, etc, as long as it's potable and not too crazy or animal-derived).
We will then hold a randomized draft where each person will select from the pool of ingredients. If there are 10 participants and you draw first dibs, then you will also go 20th, and the 2nd person will also have the 19th pick and so on. Teams are allowed, but you will both just use the 2 drafted ingredients.
We'll hold the draft sometime in March when all the participants can meet up (or maybe we'll use zoom, whatever the group thinks).
The competition will be judged as always by PBCers (25 pt scale, with 5 of the points on how well the entrant used the two ingredients... so, if you get fuggles, but you just dropped a single pellet in, you ain't getting those 5 pts most likely).
If you want in, just email me with two ingredients... I'll only allow for there to be up to two of the same, so will let you know if one of your ingredients has been added to the pool already.
Lots to consider... you may want to pick a crazy ingredient to try and sabotage others, but you may also end up with that one, but if you go too conservative you may not get as many style points, so, enjoy!

p.s. if you hate this idea, then just win and you can choose the format for next year!
