Position: Big Data Developer (Python/Pyspark)
Duration: 6 months
Location: Cincinnati, OH OR IL Chicago, IL
Details:
Lead design of Hadoop and SQL based solutions
• Perform development of Hadoop and SQL based solutions
• Perform unit and integration testing
• Collaborate with senior resources to ensure consistent development practices
• Provide mentoring to junior resources
• Participate in retrospective reviews
• Participate in the estimation process for new work and releases
What you’ll do as a senior data developer, you will have the opportunity to lead the build of solutions to ingest, store and distribute our big data to our analysts and work with them to develop and deliver data science used in our customer solutions. Our data developers use Python, Hadoop, Spark, Hive, and SQL to deliver the products, tools and features of the future alongside application developers and members of our product team.
• Bachelor’s degree typically in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Analytics or another technically strong program.
• 5+ years proven ability of professional data development experience
• 3+ years proven ability of developing with Hadoop/HDFS
• 3+ years developing experience with Python
• 3+ years’ experience with pySpark/Spark (pySpark preferred)
• Full understanding of ETL concepts
• Exposure to VCS (Git, SVN)
• Strong understanding of Agile Principles (Scrum)
• Preferred Skills – Experience in the following
• Java – service building
• Familiarity with containers
• Source Control (GitHub)
• Cloud experience (GCP) preferred
• Working knowledge of Databricks
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and uphold Fullstack engineering best practices
• Collaborate with designers & product managers to iterate on the design & implementation of our product
• Work with Engineers from our consumers to build and ship features
• Design a framework for creating services that grows with the needs of the company
• Monitor performance, watch for traffic drops related to usability problems & rectify the issues
• Review app and feature code, and plan future API upgrades with the development team
• Assist in the development of applications & features that will be put on the website, mobile app, and external client apps
• Stay up-to-date on emerging technologies
