Does Pat 0.16.0 work on Windows 7? I tried it on a wimpy ACER and I get the following:

c:\Pat>pat configure
Exception 0xc0000005 0x0 0x0 0x0
PC=0x0

runtime.asmstdcall(0x20)
        /usr/local/go/src/runtime/sys_windows_386.s:44 +0x2a fp=0x12fe28 sp=0x12
fe24 pc=0x47231a
eax     0x8
ebx     0xee5510
ecx     0x0
edx     0x12fe58
edi     0x12fe2c
esi     0x12fe8c
ebp     0x12fe2c
esp     0x12fe20
eip     0x0
eflags  0x10206
cs      0x1b
fs      0x3b
gs      0x0

Results are the same if I try to get the "version" or "help". Version 0.15.1 works fine. If Win 7 support is deprecated, so be it. I'm only using the Acer because it was free and it has lived a useful life. My guess is that I need to install something.

The new version seems to be fine on Windows 10. Trying Raspi Pi next.

Hi Dave,

Yes, unfortunately v0.15.1 is the last version with pre-built binaries that will run on Windows 7.

Pat is written in Go, and as with many other vendors they support for Win 7 some months ago apparently.

You should still be able to compile v0.16.0 from source using an older (supported) Go compiler (v1.20). Or you could keep running Pat v0.15. That said, I would highly recommend upgrading to at least Windows 10... but you already know this ;)

Martin,
Thanks to the quick response and I am not surprised. I'm very close to moving everyting to Linux in the ham shack so I will probably stick with 0.15.1 for now. I just tried 0.16.0 on a Raspberry Pi 4 with Bookworm and things were fine. Trying to keep a Windows 7 computer alive seems like tilting a windmills.
