Powell Park Update

Good Morning,

The Powell Park and playground area is opening soon, and I hope to see this space open up by the beginning of June (the recent rain may delay that a little, but we're close!).  Equipment, benches, and new lighting have gone in creating a great and accessible space for all ages. For those with kids, you may have already seen the amazing slide structure and all kinds of fun opportunities to play but the best part is that this space has really been equipped to accommodate our entire community. 

Some highlights:

1. It is now ADA compliant and universally accessible to all from our youngest to our most seasoned residents, there are now ramps in multiple areas across the park so all areas can be open to wheelchairs or anyone with mobility issues. 
   
2. Fencing around the play spaces will be locked at night by a DPR ranger at night, similar to what we see at the Trolly park on Monroe and 13th. The main plaza area and adult exercise equipment will remain open.
3. A ton of seating options, including a table with a built-in chess/checkerboard that is also ADA compliant.

Now that we are all coming out on the other end of COVID (need a vaccine, check out these options or contact me for options - it is also open to ages 12+), it's time to look towards the great opportunities opening for our community, including our long (very loooong) awaited park!
