Folks:

Great to hear the story of “happy camper” Dusan Soudek’s land donation on CBC Radio this morning. Congratulations Dusan – and as a Nova Scotian outdoor enthusiast, and a beneficiary of your generosity, thank you. No kind act is ever a small act.

Dusan, thank you so much! That's a mighty generous donation and a very important one. As canoers/kayakers, we know it's all about the access to the water! :)

Sincerely,
Davis Bennett

Thanks for sharing this news, Andrew.

Dusan, heartfelt thanks to you donating your Head of Jeddore property to the Province despite their near inability to accept it! Thank you for your perseverance.
It's a strategic parcel for paddlers but also had significant historical and cultural value.

Fantastic New Years' news even if late to commemorate your 50th year since immigration to Canada!

Hi All,

For anyone interested, attached are two maps (screen captures) that illustrate the location of the land donated by Dusan. This land was formally added to Ship Harbour Long Lake Wilderness Area in October. As noted, this is a strategic location, containing a portage linking the interior waterways (now largely protected) with the Atlantic coast and access off HW #7.

Dusan, among others, has also been very active in a project to restore and maintain portages and campsites in parts of Ship Harbour Long Lake Wilderness Area (and other wilderness areas) through a partnership between NS Environment and Canoe-Kayak NS.

Good to see Dusan receive recognition for some of his many efforts!

That's great! I've hiked and paddled there without even knowing it was yours at the time, so thanks! :)
