finally managed to combine christmas eve visiting today with a paddle to complete the 2025 yearround paddler challenge.

here is my report.

Yearround paddler report 2025 – Jonathan Riley

 

JAN. 02 – Lewis Dump (on the Mersey River; aka Four-Mile Stillwater)
Old Town Camper, with AV – crossing river for trip to Rocky Lake Cabin, broke through quite a bit of thin ice

 

FEB. 25 – The Joggin, a cove off the Annapolis Basin. Launched from Dawson Brook
Old Town Camper, solo

 

MARCH 19-21 – Shingle Lake (Putlaqnekatik). Launched from New Elm Road and paddled through ice leads into Cow Moose Bay to camp

Old Town Camper, with AV

 

APRIL 26 to MAY 01 – Tobeatic Wilderness. Roseway Lake to North Bingay
with MH and three other canoes for HWA treatments on island on North Bingay

 

MAY 25-25 – Sporting Lake Stream. from landing on Sporting Lake Stream
Old Town Camper with AV. To explore hemlock covered islands

 

JUNE 08 – Peskawa Lake in Kejimkujik National Park and NHS

Old Town Camper with AV, circumnavigated whole lake for Loon Watch. saw 1 loon

 

JULY 26-27 – Shingle Lake (Putlaqnekatik)., this time southern portion of lake
Old Town Camper with AV

 

AUG 27 – Kejimkujik Lake
One of 12 trips that month in our 38-footer with 18 passengers and us 2 guides.
Aug. 27 was the MOST BEAUTIFUL night with a sky full of stars, shooting stars and even a fireball

SEPT 27- 30 – Bras d'Or Lake

Old Town Camper with NH and two other boats

Marble Mtn through Whycogomagh Portage to Nyanza

 

OCT 17 – 19 – 11-Mile    Lake
Old Town Camper with AV; paddled in to spend weekend working on cabin

 

NOV 29 – Millet Lake, Chester Grant
Old Town Camper with AV           

 

DEC 24  – Clementsport (Annapolis Basin)
Old Town Camper with AV. Launched through ice and paddled through ice floes. Very cold.
