Azure windows virtual image provision Packer- winrm timeout issue

Hi,

I am trying to provision windows image in Azure using packer.
When it comes to connecting winrm its getting timeout. I have mentioned the winrm settings in a file and provided the path to this file in custom_data_file which is mentioned in builder part.

I am not able to find any sample for windows image provisioning with winrm setting.

Could you confirm the link of sample code if any or am I mentioning it wrong?

Check out the boxstarter.org templates for bootstrapping Windows with WinRM or look at the chef/bento repo on GitHub in the Windows folder to find great examples.

they use winrm

I have tried the same. WinRM timeout is the issue when it is trying to connect to the VM provisioned. i have tried different images and increased timeout as well. It didn't help. Tried to login manually into the packer provisioned machine, WinRM is disabled. How can we enable the WinRM in Azure machines using packer?

For AWS, we are enabling the WinRM settings in user_data_file. Similarly for Azure do we have any option?

Have you tried using the https://github.com/chef/bento repo and the Windows 10 templates? There was a WinRM fix a month or two back for Windows 10 that fixed an issue with WinRM not getting properly enabled, I haven't tested with the server versions to see if the same fix would be required there.
