All:

Am I missing something or does Packer not support templates written in HCL (HashiCorp Configuration Language)?

If so, is there a technical reason for not doing so?

Is there a tool available that would allow me to generate json from hcl as an intermediate step?

Thx,

-steve

Hey Stephen,

Packer predates HCL by a couple years, and we haven’t yet updated it to use HCL. There are plans to do so in the next year or so.

Best,
Mitchell

Good to hear its on the roadmap!

I did locate a python HCL parser: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/pyhcl

Haven't tried it yet, but thought I'd post for future reference.
