to Packer
Hello,

At this point I am able to use packer to build a VM on esxi host.

But I'd like to achieve also the following distinct cases:

Add the VM to a specific resource pool and folder on vCenter (that controls the same esxi)

And also convert the VM to a template.

Is this doable through provisioning somehow?

I think the way to achive what you want is build with vmware builder on ESXi and then use the vSphere post-processor to upload it to vCenter with the correct settings.

(The vsphere post-processors have some open bug reports and might need some adjustment to work properly for you, but the code is trivial and most simple fixes should be easy to do even without any previous Go knowledge.)
