Hi,

I posted this https://github.com/jetbrains-infra/packer-builder-vsphere/issues/221 on the jet brains repo for their vmware builder..

I'm wanting to determine builder versions and also the packer version to be used within the processes to create 'release notes'

Is it possible to determine builder versions etc from within packer?

David

I'm guessing this is a no?

No it's not, you need to do it in a wrapper script that passes that information as a variable or in a metadata file.

You probably have to save the version in a file when you download it. Plugins don't have any way of reporting their versions.
