can i run packer from packer itself

We need to create VM images using packer . Our Jenkins slave are docker images so installing virtual box on docker and creating VM images on a docker would be complex .

So what we are thinking is to run packer command on docker slave machine . Command will run packer on other machine which will create virtual image .

so Can i fire packer command in such a way that it will fore packer command on other machine ?

Hello Parag,

You can't create the virtualbox image if you don't have virtualbox on same machine where you will fire the command. Because it will create VM in virtualbox after that it create image.

Surely the simplest thing would be to use ssh from the Docker slave to run the packer command on the machine with virtualbox and packer installed? Or am I missing something?
