Virtualbox template not working

Hi. So, I have a virtualbox template i've been working on, the most recent addition has been trying to use a validation key and it has been failing every time. I have a variable set to the file path of the .pem key, then I also have it set as {{user `validation_key_path`}}", when the template actually uses it, and in the command I run:  packer build -var 'key= name of .pem file' example_file.json. and it keeps giving an error talking about an error failing to clean up the chef node. Any ideas?

Hard to say with so little info. Can you supply the template, the command line you run and the output when it fails (or even better the complete PACKER_LOG).
