Hi Folks
That time again..whats the flavour nowadays, got these quotes

Exide R2 250 new with two year warranty (recon r1000)
Willard r1500 with two year warranty

Then for the second battery are deep cycles still the way to go…last used a Deltec, also flat now

Any thoughts  appreciated

Kindly
Ash

Have found Vartas to be reasonable.

Usually buy from Current Automation.

I would chat to Jacque Fernihough from Bushpower.

When I bought a cranking battery and a couple of deep cycles his prices were the best that I could get. I can’t recall the brand, but the cranking battery is still going strong in the 130, which I sold a couple of years ago – it must be at least 5 years old (probably more) and the deep cycles are still doing duty in my garage, and showing no signs of giving up.

I swear by Raylite Ultimates.

Not sure what the price is now, but the AGM is definitely worth paying for as in it is far more forgiving of ill treatment (if you've got a good automatic charger like a Ctek).  🙂

All batteries are not equal, the technologies are advancing daily.

Jacques supplies Energiser & Ennertec brands, excellent European batteries.

We supply these batteries too, under their brand names or our Trylec house brand.

Personally, I only use the Ennertec batteries in my vehicles & aching to test the new sexy Lithium replacement Motorcycle batteries, if mine dies before I leave for the UK. Jacques will be able to supply those too.

Deltec is a good battery, some years back, we used to move a pallet of these to Zim every month. However, the service levels and offerings from Ennertech have increased in leaps and bounds, while Deltec have deteriorated. My last Deltec battery expired long before it should have because the sales person gave me a cheaper spec battery. I’m done with them.

Willard, FNB and Exide were way behind the curve when I last checked.

I changed my Defender battery yesterday, been using Enertec’s 1251 high cycle battery for many years. Not expensive, with around 700 CCA can turn over a tired diesel motor and if necessary can be cycled a few times if the deep cycle packs up.

Ciao

Renzo

Hi Nico,

Yes, we are not getting any younger & my recent bout with cancer has given us a different perspective. Rhona is already working in Chesterfield, I have sold the house and in the process of selling up the remaining goods, then the kids and I will systematically join her.

Derbyshire, it’s North East Midlands
Rhona is currently staying in Bolsover, but we will find another place when I get there.
She just bought a car by herself for the first time. (With a lot of moral input from me) it’s interesting how things can change.

There are so many South Africans there, braaiing is quite common.

Marc,
Over here in the U.K. knowing what it is is one thing being able to find any is another question all together,  that was one reason for buying a Rocky Mountain steel grill for the Series 3, the plastic one melted and tainted the meat.
Take care and stay safe

When the gorgeous solid wood dining room set arrived that SWMBO had ordered from England, it turned out to be made from kameeldoring! Never knew it makes such striking furniture.

Must say I’ll be conflicted next time I braai with it!

Well you know where to find some wood when your run short.  But then it will be an expensive braai I am sure

Some of our SA timbers make beautiful furniture = lovely grains.  I would still like to have a solid table top out of Kiaat.
