Hi 

Does anyone know what the size is for the air hose for the boost pin diaphragm.

Ive been trying to find either a part number, also phoned LP4A for the part. however they advised that I go to a hydraulic shop to get a hose.

I just dont know what the size is. 

Just to clarify again. its the hose between the turbo and Injector pump. 

(seems like one of those parts that does not have a part number ;)

Hi Jurgens,

You can buy normal nylon air tubing, just ask for 6mm pneumatic tube. Any hydraulic or air tool place should have that.  It takes some effort to push on but with heat it crimps a bit and works very well.

For pneumatic tube the measurement is specified for the OD, not the ID like for normal pipe, so don't get HD tubing as the ID will be too small.

Tip, if you can, move the turbo actuator hose to take pressure from the intake manifold as this will ensure 1 bar at the head intake and not just at the outlet of the turbo.  Leave the injection pump hose at the turbo to get fueling as early as possible.

As for the boost pin, don't know anyone in SA that stocks that.

You can just turn your std pin to the max position.  There should be a dimple stamped on the diaphragm metal part which you turn to point forwards to front of the pump.  This will give you the least restriction on fueling with the std pin.

When you re-insert the pin, just ensure the restriction probe is pushed into the body of the pump before you incert the boost pin so you don't bend the probe rendering it useless.

This is probably the wrong attitude to have but I have mostly given up on local suppliers who always seem disinterested whether its for Land Rovers or Toyotas. I now just import everything from Europe. Sometimes I save sometimes I lose but I get the shipment within a week and its never a hassle.

 

My latest order believe it or not is for a 40cm replacement strap for an Alucab awning on my Khaya canopy. Its arriving tomorrow. I did try 4x4 Megaworld but its been a week and they still haven’t got back to me and they are the local agents for Alucab. (their lack of service lost them my 3 Hilux’s also where I did full bar work, suspension, snorkels etc)

 

Anyway, please excuse the moan…….. just search online and order from a company overseas. You will save a lot of headache by not dealing with most local companies. Ive had a lot of success with Britpart, Powerful UK, and even Ebay.

Seems that dimple is not always forwards, check the pin geometry to confirm.

that was some really useful information regarding the hose, and the manifold positioning.

@Bruce, I had a look at the site, it seems like they sell really low quality goods, will give that a skip, and rather follow your advice on shopping online from a reputable source.

@Eben, as mentioned its a pain to install that hose, thats the main reason I want to replace mine, I suspect that I've got a blocked up hose, and it will most probably damage/break my current hose upon removing and inspection. My initial thought was to just move the pin to the max position and see what the results are, however, I have seen some great results on youtube with guys installing an even more aggressive pin. Its not crucial, just a bonus.
