Hey team 😊

We're currently integrating Outbrain into our app via the API, but we've run into an issue: we can't find a way to retrieve the account's timezone through the API.

To ensure accurate reporting, we need to confirm which timezone the data is being reported in. Is the reporting timezone tied to the account owner or admin settings?

Also, is there any way to programmatically fetch this information via the API? Manually checking and configuring each ad account would be quite cumbersome at scale.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Ari,

Thank you for reaching out.

The data in the API is always reported in EST and it is not affected by the account owner or admin settings, so when pulling data you can keep this timezone into account.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Best,
Marta

Thank you for the quick response! 😊

We've noticed that some of our users are seeing data reported in different timezones. We're not entirely sure if this is something the account manager configured for them, but we've observed several cases where the reporting timezone appears to differ between accounts. (Israel, Brasil/San Paulo etc)

Any insights on how this is determined—or if it's customizable per account—would be really helpful.

Hi Ari,

The API reporting timezone is EST so we need to further investigate this on our side. Could you please share the following:
- an example of the calls the different users made
- which users (you can share usernames) get the data in different timezones.

Thank you,
Best,
Marta

Hi Marta,

Thank you for getting back to me.

Regarding the API calls, we're using the same endpoint and not passing any timezone information. We initially thought the API was returning data in a different timezone.

While I can't share specific usernames, we do have a few use cases where users have specified a different timezone for their Outbrain account.

Thanks,
Ari
